Duck Flapping, Sarah Myers Drawing in minimal line, charcoal on paper |
The duck eagerly
flaps her bright white wings as she rises on tip-toe. Simple lines
describe this friendly bird who has come to shore to see us; the
black charcoal defines beak, eye, neck, and especially the feathers
that curl as she briefly, gently, lifts herself on the impulse of her
smooth wings.

I love the sense of the duck's determination your drawing conveys.
ReplyDeleteThese particular birds at the park are very practical in pursuit of crumbs and treats from visitors, so your comment brings an extra smile, Derek. They are likely to draw up in a disappointed row and go promptly asleep if no donations are offered (and the feathery sphere of a duck with head under wing is a rather indefinite shape to depict :-) So pleased that you enjoyed the sketch – and thank you much for the visit to my blog! :-)
