    Leaning lightly forward, she wraps her arms around her cornucopia brimful with fruits of harvest. A late summer wind stirs in her hair and in the bowing grain.
    This sculpture was created very quickly and spontaneously from my favourite earthenware clay, a terracotta whose formula was originated by my sister and which I make from the dry minerals. The warmth of the clay's tone matches the tumbling fruits and gentle, reaching arms of the figure.

The lady leans forward in the shade of her brilliant red hat. Her chin rests on her hand and she looks just slightly pensive, lost in thought – but she is clearly ready for the summer, the sunlight and the long, bright days… Painted in acrylic on canvas.

   Diligent bees with gold bands and filmy wings, humming in and out of the flowers - the ferocious-looking but most welcome guardian of the garden, a giant bronze dragonfly - the tiny silver glint of a blue-gray butterfly, with a curled tongue still tasting sweetness - all these small visitors have been spotted among the flowers, taking as their own world the beauty and brightness of the garden. I captured these images in my sister's garden in the desert, whose progress you can read about here; the pictures are from late summer, early autumn days when the air was full of busy creatures, full of this smaller world which we gladly welcome as our own.
